CHLOE M - APPRENTICE

Initially I wanted to get into hairdressing when I left school, however, like many I was steered into the direction of going to university instead of doing an apprenticeship. So I went to Teeside Uni and studied Journalism, where I gained a 2:1 BA hons. However, before I even completed my degree I quickly realised that Journalism wasn’t for me and after Uni I ended up in a few different hospitality roles whilst saving to go travelling. After a year in Australia, I floated into a receptionist position at Middleton Lodge but knew this wasn’t where I wanted to be long term.

Like many, the year of lockdowns and Covid made me realise that I wanted to be in a job which I enjoyed and had passion for – so here I am, a hairdressing apprentice at the age of 28. I’m so happy I took the plunge, and extremely grateful to Vic for taking on an ‘older apprentice’, because so far I am LOVING my time at Lox, and can’t wait to keep learning and eventually qualify as a level 2 stylist.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST

At the moment I’m obviously still finding my feet in hairdressing and just enjoying the learning process. I’m loving giving clients treatments at the backwash, as they’re always so impressed with how healthy their hair feels afterwards. I also love curling extensions and creating a lovely princessy wave. I can’t wait to start fitting extensions as I’m still always amazed at how much of a difference they can make to someone’s hair. Seeing a client leave the salon with their dream hair is such a buzz, I just can’t wait to be the one creating it!

FAVOURITE PRODUCTS

I absolutely love using the Bhave Shine Spray on clients, besides the fact that it smells absolutely gorgeous, it adds a lush shine to your hair. And of course I love using anything Olaplex, because who doesn’t? Personally, I really like Olaplex no. 6, I use it most times I dry my own hair and it leaves my hair feeling super soft.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS

As mentioned before, I really love to travel. I think my love for travel started when I was a kid, going on family holidays. But my love for travel without my parents definitely started on a fundraised trip to Namibia in 2011 – we backpacked, camped, trekked, visited the Himba Tribe, and volunteered in a school. I also spent a year in Australia in 2016, and would love to go back to visit one day. I’ve been on backpacking trips to Thailand a couple of times, as well as family trips to other places.
I also enjoy cooking and making cocktails – I definitely had plenty of practise in the lockdowns, and feel like I absolutely perfected an Espresso Martini!
